On my ipod escapism was the highest played song

My life was kinda worked out, knew what I was talkin about.
Took the words of wisdom from a chick to prove me wrong
Now God didn't send me a fling, he sent me a journey.
At every stop she challenged the things which I thought concerned me
like how much I love music
and what I'd do for freedom
and why I act differently towards certain people when I see them.
Bruv, I grew faster than ever before.

And as life moved, so did we
yer, we had different paths so eye to eye we didn't see.
first time in years I accepted to disagree
staying comfy being me and walking with what I believe.

I've had such a hilarious week. I've been so busy and stressed out but still end up having so much fun.

Last night was a fine example:
Shoreditch House for drinks with Soli, Marco, ect.
Slam Poetry gig at Villain with Arun, Nari, Bianca ect.
Hoxton Bar and Grill for Soli's DJ set.
Taxi to Public with Arun, Bart Hendriks and Marco Gentile.
Laughed at the Made In Chelsea people.
Taxi to Maroush --> Lebanese feast at 2am.

House Parties

seem to always prove themselves as the best parties.
The ones that stay most prominent in my memory are a variety in Washington DC and Milo's 18th Jamaican themed birthday. Since then I have found my favourite kind of party severely lacking,
until saturday night that is.
Maria and Andy threw a join-21st-birthday-house-warming-party in Kingston.
I arrived at 7 to 'help out' but ended up just being frozen in her room and eating food from the chippy. At 9:30 we cracked on, the house was carpeted in cardboard (with phallic duck-tape aesthetics) and the girls in her room were drinking bottles of wine through straws.
By 5am there were still about a hundred people, broken glass everywhere, karaoke had been going full blast since 12, we had smashed Maria' door down and there were people in every room either having sex or being sick, or maybe both.
I ended up going home with two friends who lived near by and sleeping in a studio, being woken up at 8 by their mother who was going to Istanbul.
Milo and LANDON joined us for an incredible fry up at 12, followed far too quickly by a trampolining session in the sunshine.
sleeping in my pjs on the tube with Milo at 3 and sporadically laughing at memories from the night before.
Milo is now also 21 and we threw him a lovely dinner-party at Mango Room in Camden, with a speech from almost everyone.
It was a great weekend.

Livin' Proof

After a long week of working, and partying, and working hungover, I finally had a weekend of rest.
The saturday of which I decided to spend celebrating two birthdays at a night called Livin'Proof at a place called Camp.
Essentially a hip-hop night in a basement- never a wise idea.
Within an hour the place was packed and with no ventilation this led to serious sweating from everyone. When raving in a sauna got too much, which was every hour or so, we would have to run outside for air. The temperature change was about 50 degrees but highly welcomed, and people were lying on the concrete trying to get as cold as possible (tights were see strewn and abandoned at the entrance). Then we would run back down for more and half way down the stairs be met by a wall of steam and my glasses would steam up so much I was virtually blind for the first few minutes. With friends from four different friendship circles congregating under the united love of hip hop I was happy. Very happy. So happy in fact I danced like a maniac till 3am when the inevitable finally happened

I got a heart attack.

Overall a very good night, not such a great day afterwards though..

I SEE SIMON, A Review

Alexander Trustrum Thomas and Peregrine Fellowes wrote and directed, respectively, a short play called I See Simon and it was taken up to Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer to be performed at a intimate venue within The Zoo Roxy.
The actors fit their roles so perfectly that at no point did the characters feel fake.
The outline of the story is simple, but the order in which the scenes are played out and the depth of the characters is far from it.
The playful pub scenes are riddled with tension, and though Dominic Sudnik plays a wonderful drunk the scene is blackened as we know the outcome of his drink driving.
The use of the stage is creative and compelling. In such a small space there is only so much one can do but Peregrine finds a way to position the characters to get the best impact during their monologues, and the contrast of the man sitting passively in the chair with the woman pacing up and down creates a wonderful aesthetic.
The power with which Thea Beyleveld commands a stage is overwhelming for the intimate audience and her emotions are so pure and natural, we can't help but sympathise.
Oliver Tobin, playing the titular part of Simon, is an understated and charming actor. He plays the part with such ease and zeal we, the audience, feel comfortable and secure with him, just as the woman does.

Overall the play was a beautiful depiction of how complex the minds of people can be and how a comfortable marriage is not always so simple. Human emotion is a whirlwind, and I See Simon takes us straight through the eye of the storm.

I wish the group the best of luck with further endeavours together or solo.
